Why it matters
Why Gohtong Jaya is worth your time
Gohtong Jaya shows how a mountain resort becomes a place with a permanent community. It is where staff and residents live and where the resort's founder is remembered.
For visitors, it also offers an alternative way to the summit: the Genting SkyWay line starts here, so understanding the township helps you choose between the two cable cars. It is also a sensible place to buy water, medicines or other basics at ordinary prices before going up to the resort.
