Pacing

Pacing a Gurdaspur trip for parents and children

  • Use a car; many sights are in villages with no public transport, and a driver can help find lanes.
  • Cover your head, remove shoes and wash your feet at gurdwaras; wear socks you can carry in the heat if the marble is hot.
  • Avoid April to September for outdoor sites; the plains are very hot and humid.
  • Carry water, snacks and any medicines, since small sites have few facilities.
  • Check the Kartarpur Corridor and any border area access rules before travelling; they can change without notice.
  • Heat: From April to September, plan outdoor sites for early morning and avoid midday. Marble and brick can be hot underfoot.
