The short answer
Draupadi Ghat: what visitors should know first
Visit for the atmosphere and the story, not for facilities. It is a short, quiet stop best combined with the Mahabharata sites. Go early, wear steady footwear and expect basic surroundings.
History and context
The story behind Draupadi Ghat
The Ganga has moved some 4 to 5 km from the older channel, leaving the Budhi Ganga and its ghats. The links to Draupadi and the Pandavas' exile are local tradition and are not documented history.

Why it matters
Why Draupadi Ghat is worth your time
Draupadi Ghat shows how Hastinapur's epic geography is kept alive in ordinary places. The Budhi Ganga is a reminder that the river once ran closer to the ancient settlement, and the village setting brings the stories down to human scale.
It is also a simple, accessible stop for older travellers who want some of the atmosphere without climbing or crowds. Few visitors reach it, so you are likely to have the bank largely to yourself, which is rare for a site tied to a story this widely known.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Draupadi Ghat lies on the Budhi Ganga (the 'old Ganga'), a channel left behind as the main river shifted 4 to 5 km away. The ghat and a small nearby shrine known as Draupadi's Rasoi, her kitchen, are tied by local tradition to the Pandavas' time in exile.
The story attached to the kitchen is that Krishna visited the family at mealtime when Draupadi had no food, and that he gave her a vessel that produced endless food. The shrine on the site is small, with images inside, and sits in a calm village setting.
There is not much to do except to sit, look at the water and walk the bank. Come in the early morning or late afternoon, bring water and avoid the heat of the day. As with the other Mahabharata sites, treat the stories as local belief and enjoy the quiet.
