How to reach Igatpuri by road
Igatpuri lies on the Mumbai-Nashik highway (NH3, renumbered NH160 on this stretch), about 130 km from Mumbai and 45 km from Nashik. The highway climbs the Kasara Ghat from the Mumbai side; the Samruddhi Mahamarg also has a long tunnel between Kasara and Igatpuri.
Getting around Igatpuri
A private car or taxi is the practical way to reach most sights. Autos serve the town and station, and shared jeeps run from Kasara to Vihigaon. Plan fixed pick-ups with your driver, as ride-hailing coverage is limited.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Igatpuri
- Hire a car and driver for the day: sights are scattered and the ghat road is easier with someone who knows it.
- Carry an umbrella, a light rain jacket and shoes with grip from June to September.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
