Day 3: Day trips
Choose between Kellie's Castle at Batu Gajah and Gua Tempurung near Gopeng, depending on stairs and stamina. Both are doable in a morning with a driver. Keep the afternoon free.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Kellie's Castle 1 to 1.5 hours on site plus travel Moderate Morning Gua Tempurung (Tempurung Cave) 2 to 3 hours with travel Demanding Morning, on a dry day Pace: Gua Tempurung (Tempurung Cave) involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.
With parents at Kellie's Castle: Expect uneven floors, narrow staircases and open ruins with little shade. The grounds are walkable but older visitors may prefer to see the exterior only.
With parents at Gua Tempurung (Tempurung Cave): The standard route has stairs, bridges and damp surfaces. Humidity and steps make it tiring for older visitors; check which short route is suitable.
