Area by area

Jejuri neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Pune city (day trip base)

Best for: Most visitors, including families and seniors

Good to know: Jejuri is about 50 km from Pune, so most travellers stay in Pune and drive down. This gives you the full range of hotels, hospitals and restaurants. Allow roughly 1.5 to 2 hours each way, depending on traffic.

  2. 02

    Saswad

Best for: Combining Jejuri with Saswad, Purandar and Malhargad

Good to know: A small town on the Karha river with simple lodging options and shorter drives to Sangameshwar and the forts. Check current options and facilities in advance.

Sights in this area: Malhargad (Sonori Fort), Sangameshwar Temple, Saswad

  3. 03

    Jejuri town

Best for: Pilgrims who want an early darshan

Good to know: Dharamshalas and basic lodges serve pilgrims near the temple. Expect simple rooms, noise on festival nights, and heavy crowds around Somvati Amavasya and Champa Shashthi. Book ahead.

  4. 04

    Along the Pune–Saswad road

Best for: Travellers who want to break the journey

Good to know: A few roadside hotels and resorts lie between Pune and Jejuri. Verify current reviews and availability before booking.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
