Plan 01

1 day in Jibhi

  1. 01

Day 1: Waterfall, village and an early drive

Take the Jibhi Waterfall walk in the morning when the path is quiet, then wander through the village and the riverside footbridges. Have a long lunch at one of the village cafés. If the weather is clear and you have a driver, spend the afternoon on the 40-minute drive up to Jalori Pass via Shoja and return before the evening cools. Otherwise, rest and visit Shesh Naag temple quietly in the late afternoon.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Jibhi Waterfall1 to 1.5 hours including time at the fallsModerateMorning on a dry day; March to June and September to November
Jalori PassHalf a day by car; a full day with the Serolsar walkEasyApril to June and October to November; early morning for clear views

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Jibhi Waterfall: The path has stone steps, wooden bridges and damp patches, with few places to sit. Most older walkers manage it slowly with a stick; anyone unsteady on stairs may prefer to see only the first stretch or the approach by the river road.

Plan 02

2 days in Jibhi

  1. 01

    Day 1: Village and waterfall

Arrive and settle in. Walk to Jibhi Waterfall in the late morning, then spend the afternoon on a slow walk through the village lanes and the river. Visit Shesh Naag temple if you wish, then dinner at your homestay.

    Day 2: Jalori Pass

Leave early for Jalori Pass, about 12 km above Jibhi. Walk around the pass, and add the Serolsar Lake walk only if you are fit and acclimatised. Return by mid-afternoon and rest. A late café stop by the river makes a quiet end to the trip.

Pace: Serolsar Lake involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.

With parents at Serolsar Lake: The walk is a steady forest climb on uneven paths, with roots, mud and some steps, at altitude. Few older travellers will find it easy; those who go should take a guide or driver as a companion, walk slowly and be willing to turn back.

Plan 03

3 days in Jibhi

  1. 01

    Day 1: Arrival and village

Reach Jibhi by lunchtime and rest. In the late afternoon walk around the village and riverside, with a quiet visit to Shesh Naag temple.

  2. 02

Day 2: Waterfall and a slow morning

Take the waterfall walk early, then have a long breakfast and a lazy afternoon. If you want a short outing, drive to Shoja and walk a little in the forest there.

  3. 03

Day 3: Jalori Pass and Serolsar

Make an early start for Jalori Pass and walk to Serolsar Lake and the Buddhi Nagin shrine if you are comfortable at altitude. Return in the afternoon, or add a night at Shoja if you want a slower pace before heading out.

Pacing

Pacing a Jibhi trip for parents and children

  • Choose a stay with a ground-floor room and a short, level path from the road; many cottages sit down or up steep stone steps.
  • Do Jalori Pass by car, and walk only as far as feels comfortable at around 3,100 m; the Serolsar walk is strenuous.
  • Plan one outing a day with a rest after lunch. The roads are slow, and distances on maps are misleading.
  • Carry regular medicines and a simple first-aid kit; the nearest large hospitals are in Kullu or Mandi, hours away.
  • Bring warm layers in every season and shoes with good grip, as paths and bridges are damp.
  • Avoid July and August; landslides can close the road for hours.
