The short answer
Green Park Stadium: what visitors should know first
Go only if a match is on. Tickets and access depend on the fixture, and the stadium is not a sight on non-match days. Check the fixtures and the ticketing details on official channels.

Why it matters
Why Green Park Stadium is worth your time
Green Park has been a Test venue since India played England there in January 1952, and it staged India's 500th Test in September 2016, which India won against New Zealand. It also staged India's first day/night ODI in October 2017 and a Test against Bangladesh in late September and early October 2024.
For a city better known for industry, the stadium is a point of civic pride and the main reason many cricket fans visit Kanpur.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Check the fixtures before you plan anything. The ground is operated by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and hosts Test matches, white-ball internationals, IPL games and domestic cricket. On non-match days it is closed to casual visitors as far as we could verify.
On a match day, plan to arrive early, since security checks are long and roads around Civil Lines can be slow. Choose a seat in the shade and carry water, and expect the crowd to be loud. Going by metro or cab is easier than driving, since parking is limited.
If you cannot get a ticket, the stadium is still part of the city's cricketing story, but there is little to see from the outside. Pair a visit with the church and Nana Rao Park earlier in the day if time allows.
Plan with confidence
Event-led places reward a little planning.
- Check fixtures and ticketing on official channels
- Arrive early for security checks
- Carry water and sun protection
- Use the metro or a cab, not your own car
