Pacing

Pacing a Keonjhar trip for parents and children

  • Travel between November and February; summers are hot and the monsoon makes paths slippery.
  • Hire a car and driver for the whole day, because connections to rural sights are thin.
  • Sanaghagara and Badaghagara are the easiest sights; Gonasika and Khandadhar involve rough roads or long steps.
  • Avoid festival days at Ghatagaon if crowds tire you.
  • Carry water, snacks and medicines, as facilities at rural sights are limited.
  • Return before dark; rural roads are poorly lit and elephants are present in some forest areas.
