- Badaghagara Waterfall (Places to visit · 1 to 2 hours) — Steps and wet rock near the viewpoints can be slippery, and some paths are uneven. Older visitors can enjoy the main viewing area and skip the lower paths.
- Hadgarh Wildlife Sanctuary (Places to visit · Full day) — The dam crest and picnic area are fairly level, but the drive is long and facilities are sparse. Carry water, snacks and medicines, and avoid forest tracks near dusk because elephants use the area.
- Maa Tarini Temple, Ghatagaon (Places of worship · 2 to 3 hours including the drive) — The temple complex has steps and long queues on busy days, and road travel from Keonjhar takes over an hour. Early weekday visits are comfortable; festival days are not suitable for anyone who tires in crowds.
Lots of walking or steps — choose carefully (2)
- Gonasika (Places of worship · Half day) — Reports describe a rough final stretch of about 9 km that must be covered by hired vehicle or on foot, with basic or missing facilities. Not suitable for visitors with limited mobility.
- Khandadhar Falls (Places to visit · Full day) — Travel accounts mention a long flight of steps, about 500, to reach the viewing point, followed by a short descent. The drive is long and facilities are limited.

Practical tips for Keonjhar
- Heat. April and May are hot, with daytime highs around 37 degrees. Plan outings early and rest in the afternoon.
- Monsoon. July to September brings heavy rain. Waterfalls are at their fullest, but paths are slippery and roads can be slow.
- Getting around. Hire a car and driver for outlying sights. Agree the route and waiting time before you set out.
- Facilities. Water, food and toilets at rural sights are limited. Carry your own, especially for Gonasika and Khandadhar.
- Safety near water. Rocks at the waterfalls are wet. Stay behind barriers and avoid bathing, particularly after rain.
