The short answer
Bombay Talkies (Brickfields): what visitors should know first
Worth a sit-down meal if your group wants a wide North Indian vegetarian menu in an airy room rather than a quick thali. It is closed on Mondays, so check the day, and ask about onion and garlic if you are Jain.

Why it matters
Why Bombay Talkies (Brickfields) is worth your time
For Indian families who want a long, comfortable meal near KL Sentral, Bombay Talkies offers something the cheaper Brickfields counters do not: a full menu in one room, with North Indian, Indo-Chinese and South Indian dishes cooked at different stations, so a group with mixed tastes can agree on one place.
It is also useful for plant-based travellers, because the restaurant keeps a separate multi-page vegan menu. That does not make every dish vegan, and the same review notes a cheese-filled dim sum on the regular menu. Use it as a good starting point, then confirm the details with the staff on the day, especially if you avoid garlic, onion or dairy for religious or health reasons.

How to experience it
Bombay Talkies sits on Jalan Tun Sambanthan, directly opposite Nu Sentral mall, so it is an easy walk from KL Sentral station. It opened in September 2023, so it is one of the newer names among the older Brickfields vegetarian restaurants. The 2023 review that we read describes an airy, spacious dining room and four Indian chefs working at separate stations for Indian, Indo-Chinese, South Indian and tandoor food, which is why the menu runs wider than a typical thali house.
Order a mix to share. The reviewed menu includes paneer sirka pyaaz, vegetable biryani, hakka noodles, a palak chaat, vada bao and breads such as tandoori roti, bathura and a masala paratha. Prices in 2023 were roughly RM6 for a roti to about RM25 for a main, so treat them as a guide only.
There is a separate vegan menu, but note that some dishes carry cheese or other dairy, so mark vegan requirements clearly when ordering. Many dishes were described as suitable for a Jain diet, though the review did not confirm every dish. Tell the server about onion, garlic and root vegetables before you order, since we found no statement from the restaurant itself.
