Plan 01

1 day in Lambasingi

  1. 01

Day 1: Mist, farms and the reservoir

Leave Visakhapatnam very early so you reach the village by mid-morning, stopping at Kothapalli Waterfalls on the way if the light is good. Walk the strawberry and coffee farms, then drive the short distance to Thajangi Reservoir. Return via the village for a tea and coffee stop. A day trip means missing the dawn mist, which is the main reason to stay overnight.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Kothapalli Waterfalls45 to 90 minutesModerateAfter the monsoon, when water flow is good; go in daylight
Thajangi Reservoir1 to 2 hoursEasyMorning or late afternoon; cool months for comfort

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Kothapalli Waterfalls: Steps lead down to the base of the falls, which means a climb back up. Rails and seating are limited, so older visitors can enjoy the view from the top or go down slowly with a helper.

Drive up in the morning, stop at Kothapalli Waterfalls, check in to your stay and rest. In the afternoon walk the farms and the village, then visit the Black-Eyed Susan Garden in the evening. Dinner by a bonfire if your stay offers one.

Pacing

Pacing a Lambasingi trip for parents and children

  • Do not plan the sunrise hike unless you are steady on rough ground; watch the mist from your resort instead.
  • Book a car with an experienced ghat-road driver and avoid driving the winding hill sections after dark.
  • Pack proper warm clothing: nights in December and January are very cold even if days are mild.
  • Carry essential medicines and cash, as mobile signal is patchy and facilities are limited.
  • Ask for a ground-floor room and warm bedding when you book.
  • Travel midweek when possible, as weekends are crowded.
