The short answer
Secret Pizza: what visitors should know first
Go if you want a break from Lao food and can fit one of its two weekly evenings; two guides give Tuesday and Friday, 6 to 9:30 pm. It is outside the old town, so plan a tuk-tuk both ways and confirm the opening day first.

Why it matters
Why Secret Pizza is worth your time
After several days of Lao food, many Indian families want something simple and familiar in form, such as bread, cheese and a salad. A pizza night can be that reset, and it is one of the few places that several independent guides name for Western food in Luang Prabang.
It is not a Lao institution and not a vegetarian restaurant, so it carries no diet tag. Its draw is the small-restaurant feel and the fact that it keeps a short weekly schedule. Treat it as an optional dinner, not a reason to reshape the trip.
Highlights
What not to miss
- 01
Two nights a week
Backpackers Wanderlust lists Tuesday and Friday, 6:00 to 9:30 pm, so the plan has to be built around those evenings.
- 02
Pizza and pasta
CityNomads names thin-crust pizzas, pastas and lasagnas; En Primeur Club adds a wine list.
- 03
Away from the centre
The location outside downtown makes it quieter than the main street, but needs a ride both ways.
Plan your visit
How to experience it
Treat this as a deliberate evening out, not a drop-in. Backpackers Wanderlust and Laos Travel both say it opens only on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Backpackers Wanderlust giving 6:00 to 9:30 pm. Check that on the day, because small restaurants change days without notice, and ask your hotel to phone ahead.
CityNomads describes thin-crust pizzas, pastas and lasagnas, and En Primeur Club mentions wood-fired pizza and a wine list. None of the pages we opened gives a full menu, so do not rely on a particular topping being available. Vegetarians should ask directly which pizzas are meat-free and whether the kitchen can leave out any ingredient; the pages we opened do not say.
Because the address is a little outside the downtown area, agree a return ride before you sit down, since transport is easier to find on the main street than away from it. Older travellers may prefer to go on a night when the day's sightseeing has been light.
