Plan 01
1 day at Majorda Beach
- 01
Day 1: Bakery, beach and a seafood lunch
Start with warm poi from a village bakery such as Godinho Bakery, checking its hours first. Spend the late morning on the sand under a shack umbrella, swimming only where lifeguards and green flags allow. Have a long seafood lunch at one of the beach shacks, then rest. In the late afternoon, visit the Mother of God Church about 2 km inland, then return to the beach for sunset and an easy dinner on Beach Road.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Majorda Beach trip for parents and children
- Book a room within a few hundred metres of the beach entrance or take a resort with a shuttle, as soft sand makes even short walks tiring.
- Sit in a shack with a fixed table and shade instead of a sunbed in direct sun; most shacks have steps or a sandy approach, so ask for a table on the nearest level.
- Swim only where lifeguards are present and the flags are green, and avoid the sea entirely when red flags are up.
- Plan beach time for the early morning and late afternoon, and rest at midday: temperatures stay around 31 to 33 degrees through most of the dry season.
- Hire a taxi or driver for Margao and Colva rather than relying on buses, and agree the fare before you start.
- Carry sun protection, water and any medication in a day bag; the nearest large hospitals are in Margao, so keep your hotel's contact details to hand.
