Easy transfers to and in Mandi
- Do the temple circuit in the morning by car, using the old town on foot only for the shortest stretches around Bhootnath and the market.
- Avoid July and August, when heavy rain brings landslides, flooding and road closures.
- Prashar Lake is at 2,730 metres on a winding road. If you have heart or breathing concerns, check with your doctor first.
- Carry socks for temple floors, warm layers for winter mornings and any regular medication, since pharmacies in small towns may not stock everything.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
