Day 1: Darshan, river and chariot
Reach early and wash at the Tungabhadra ghat before the queues build. Greet the Manchalamma shrine, then join the darshan queue at the Sri Raghavendra Swamy brindavana. Take the midday prasada meal at the Mutt if the hall is open, then rest in the afternoon. In the evening return for the chariot procession and, if you wish, a light prasad dinner from the Mutt counters.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavana 1 to 2 hours for darshan; half a day with sevas and meals Moderate Weekday mornings after opening; November to February for comfortable weather Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavana: The route from entrance to the brindavana is level, but queues are long on busy days, floors are bare stone and often hot or wet, and footwear must be left outside. Seats are limited, so carry a stool-free plan: go early, bring water and take a companion.

Stop Time needed Walking Best time Adoni Fort Half a day including travel Demanding Early morning, November to February Pace: Adoni Fort involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.

Pacing
Pacing a Mantralayam trip for parents and children
- Visit on a weekday morning in November to February. Thursdays, weekends and the August Aradhana days bring the longest queues.
- Floors are bare stone and can be hot or wet. Carry a small mat or socks only if the Mutt permits, and take water.
- Traditional dress is expected, usually dhoti and angavastram for men and sari or salwar kameez for women; confirm at the entrance.
- Book rooms through srsmatha.org well ahead; there are no cancellations or extensions, and single-person stays are not accommodated.
- Take a companion to hold your place and carry footwear and phones, which usually have to be left outside.
- Plan a rest after lunch and keep day trips to Bichali and Panchamukhi for the cooler morning hours.
