The story behind ISKCON Mayapur (Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir)
The ISKCON Mayapur campus was established in the early 1970s by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON. The movement itself was founded in New York in 1966.

Why it matters
Why ISKCON Mayapur (Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir) is worth your time
Mayapur is the town where Gaudiya Vaishnavas believe Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born, and ISKCON chose it as its spiritual and administrative headquarters. For members from many countries this campus is a place of pilgrimage as much as administration, and its rhythm of aratis, classes and kirtan shows how the movement works day to day.
For other visitors it is also a good introduction to Bhakti worship in Bengal. The singing, the vegetarian prasadam and the order of the campus are easy to follow even if you do not share the faith. It sits beside older sites such as Yogapith, so you can see both the modern movement and the birthplace tradition in one trip.

How to experience it
The listed daily schedule on the official site begins with mangala arati at 4:30 am, darshan arati at 7:00 am, a Bhagavatam class at 8:00 am and rajabhoga arati at 11:45 am. The temple closes around 1:00 pm, reopens for dhoop arati at 4:00 pm and sandhya arati at 6:30 pm, and closes at night after shayan arati. Confirm these before you plan your day.
Arrive a little before the arati so you can find a place on the marble floor. Visitors usually stand or sit near the back, and the main deities, Sri Sri Radha-Madhava, Sri Sri Pancha-Tattva and Prahlada Nrisimhadeva, are seen from the hall. Kirtan is loud and joyful, and you can simply sit and listen. Photography may be limited inside, so ask before taking out a phone.
After darshan, walk the campus slowly. Gardens, ponds and the Ganga temple are on the same site, and prasadam halls and Govinda's restaurant are close by for meals. Keep an afternoon rest, since the temple closes for part of the day, and return for the evening arati when the campus is cooler.
Plan with confidence
Visit as a guest, not a spectator.
