Pacing
Pacing a Merta City trip for parents and children
- Visit in the morning, when the temple and fort are cooler and quieter.
- Temple floors are stone and you will be barefoot; carry socks if the temple allows them and avoid midday in summer.
- The fort paths are uneven; wear sturdy shoes and use the shade of the museum rooms for rests.
- Carry water and any medicines, and eat only freshly cooked food in town.
- Avoid the Meera Mahotsav week if you dislike crowds, or arrive very early.
- Go by car with a driver; the roads near Merta can be rough and public transport is limited.
