How to reach Mirzapur by air

The nearest major airport is Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi (VNS), roughly 70-90 km by road depending on route and traffic. Prayagraj (Bamrauli, IXD) is another option at about 110 km. Both have flights from Delhi.

How to reach Mirzapur by train

Mirzapur (MZP) lies on the Delhi-Howrah main line, so many long-distance trains stop there. Vindhyachal (BDL) is the nearer station for the Vindhyachal temples and is about 18 km from Wyndham Fall and Tanda Fall.

How to reach Mirzapur by road

Mirzapur is about 50 km south-west of Varanasi by road, with the Prayagraj corridor to the west. Private taxis from Varanasi or Prayagraj are the usual way to arrive; allow roughly two hours from Varanasi, traffic permitting.

Getting around Mirzapur

Cycle rickshaws are the main transport in town, with autos for short runs and to Vindhyachal. For the waterfalls, 15 to 45 km away, a hired taxi is the practical choice, since there is little public transport and cabs can be hard to find locally.

Easy transfers to and in Mirzapur

  • Treat the waterfalls as separate expeditions. Wyndham Fall and Tanda Fall are the gentlest, with short walks from the road, while Lakhaniya Dari involves two to three kilometres each way over rock.
  • Carry water, snacks and any medicines for the whole day. Food near the falls is very limited, and there is little shade or seating.
  • Hire a taxi with a driver for the day rather than relying on autos. It gives you a place to rest and means you are not stranded when light fades.
  • In July to September the roads to the falls can be slow or waterlogged; build in extra time and check conditions with your hotel the evening before.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
