How to reach Nagpur by air
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport (NAG) is about 8 km south-west of the city centre, so most hotels are within roughly 20 to 45 minutes by road, traffic dependent.
How to reach Nagpur by train
Nagpur Junction (NGP) in Sitabuldi is the main railhead, on the Central Railway. Ajni (AJNI) and Itwari (ITR) are other stations in the city.
How to reach Nagpur by road
Nagpur sits at a crossing of major national highways and is connected by road to Wardha, Jabalpur, Raipur and Hyderabad. Ramtek lies about 40 to 50 km to the north-east, and Pench and Tadoba are a few hours away.
Getting around Nagpur
App cabs and autos work well, the Orange and Aqua metro lines meet at Sitabuldi, and a private car with driver is the simplest option for Ramtek, Kamptee and wildlife trips.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Nagpur
- Take a car and driver for Ramtek and Dragon Palace; public transport is slow and there is no state bus to the Ramtek fort area.
- Saoji food is very spicy; ask for mild dishes and carry bottled water.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
