Area by area

Nagpur neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Civil Lines and Sadar

Best for: Travellers who want a calm, central base near the museum

Good to know: A leafy, older part of the city with hotels, restaurants and the Central Museum nearby. It is well placed for most sights, with the usual trade-off of traffic at peak hours. Check lift access if travelling with elders.

  2. 02

Sitabuldi and the railway station area

Best for: Train arrivals and short stays

Good to know: Close to the station, Ganesh Tekdi and the metro interchange, with many hotels at all budgets. It is busy and noisy, so ask for a quiet room away from the main road.

  3. 03

    Dharampeth and Ambazari Road

Best for: Families and seniors who want quieter evenings and good restaurants

Good to know: A residential and commercial area to the west, close to Ambazari Lake and Deekshabhoomi. It has cafes, hospitals and shops nearby, and is about a short drive from the central sights.

  4. 04

    Airport and Wardha Road side

Best for: Early flights and onward road trips

Good to know: Hotels on the south-western side suit travellers arriving or leaving by air. Distances to the old city and Itwari are longer, so allow time for traffic.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
