Area by area

Nathdwara neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Near the temple and lanes

Best for: Pilgrims who want to walk to darshan and the studios

Good to know: The most convenient choice for early darshans and a midday rest, with simple hotels and dharamshalas. Expect noise, crowds and narrow lanes, and check vehicle access if travelling with elders.

  2. 02

    Highway side (NH48 edge)

Best for: Families driving through with a car

Good to know: Hotels and resorts along the highway offer easier parking and quieter rooms, but are a short drive from the temple. Good for travellers who prefer vehicle access over walking.

  3. 03

    Udaipur as a base

Best for: Travellers who want a wider choice of hotels and sights

Good to know: Udaipur is about 48 km away and has many more hotels and restaurants. Nathdwara works as a long day trip, but you will need to start early to reach the morning darshans.

  4. 04

    Dharamshalas

    Best for: Budget pilgrims

Good to know: Pilgrim guesthouses are run in the town, and published guides describe them as basic and vegetarian-only. Facilities vary, so check rooms and access before booking.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
