Why it matters
Why Hulan Dongor Trek is worth your time
Hulan Dongor is a village hill rather than a tourist sight, and the walk is a chance to see the Sattari side of Goa: small hamlets, forest and monsoon streams in the Western Ghats.
The name matters to the people who live here. Maps call it Udaan Dongor, but locals know it as Hulan Dongor, after the deity Hulaneshwar, and using the right name is a small courtesy to them.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
The trail starts in Kumthal, a small hamlet of Caranzol village in Sattari taluka. After about a kilometre it enters thick forest and begins to climb steeply, crossing streams that run hard in the monsoon. The whole climb is about 4 to 5 km and takes roughly two to two and a half hours.
The last 200 m are the steepest and most tiring part. The top is often in cloud during the monsoon, so the reward is as much the forest and water on the way as any view. Come down the same way, carefully, as wet rock and roots are slippery.
Go with a guide from the village, who will set the pace and choose the safe places to cross streams. Carry water, rain gear and shoes with good grip.
Plan with confidence
Small decisions that make the visit easier.
