How to reach Panvel by train
Panvel (PNVL) is a major junction where the Harbour line, Central line and Konkan Railway routes meet, so it is well connected to Mumbai, Pune, Goa and the Konkan.
How to reach Panvel by road
Panvel sits where the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Mumbai-Goa highway (NH 66) meet, and it has two main bus stands. Karnala is about 10 to 12 km away on the Goa highway side.
Getting around Panvel
Autos and app cabs cover the town; buses run from Panvel to Karnala. For a day at Karnala or Matheran, a hired taxi is the least stressful option.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Panvel
- Choose a taxi or app cab for Karnala and Matheran rather than public buses with long walks.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
