Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Penchalakona trip for parents and children
- Visit on a weekday morning; Saturdays and Brahmotsavam bring crowds.
- Skip the waterfall trek if you have stiff knees or balance concerns; the temple alone is a worthwhile visit.
- Carry water, snacks, medicines and cash; ATMs are scarce in the village.
- Hire a car with a driver who knows the hill road and avoid driving after dark.
- Wear closed shoes with grip and dress traditionally for the temple.
- Check the weather: the trail is slippery in the rains and summer heat is strong from April to June.
