Why it matters

Why Highway Curry, Rawai is worth your time

Families staying around Rawai, Nai Harn or Chalong otherwise face a long drive back to Patong for Indian food, so a dependable local option makes a real difference, especially after a tiring day. The chain has several branches across the south and west of the island.

It also makes a useful point about how to read online restaurant information. HappyCow marks the chain's Karon branch closed since 2023 while other branches continue, and the same name can mean different menus. We have confirmed this listing only for what we could check, so treat it as a starting point and verify before you set out.

Highlights

What not to miss

  1. 01

    Separate vegan menu

A guide checked in July 2026 reports a separate vegan menu at this branch.

  2. 02

    Southern location

It saves a long drive to Patong after a day around Rawai and Promthep Cape.

  3. 03

    Adaptable dishes

The group's listings say many vegetarian dishes can be made vegan on request.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

This is a practical stop rather than a destination. The south of the island has fewer Indian options than Patong, so it works well as dinner after Wat Chalong, the Big Buddha or a sunset at Promthep Cape. Reviewers of the group's restaurants mention curries, biryanis and breads, with a home-style approach to spice.

Ask for the vegan menu as soon as you sit down. The chain's reviewers note that it may need asking for, and a guide checked in July 2026 says the Rawai restaurant has a separate one and that you should confirm any restrictions with staff. Many vegetarian dishes can reportedly be adapted as well.

Because this kitchen also prepares meat, vegetarians with strict rules should choose Chotivala or one of the vegan restaurants instead. Confirm which branch you are heading to before you leave the hotel, and save the pin. Old web pages for the chain still list locations that have since closed.

Plan with confidence

Small checks that make a better meal.

  • Ask for the vegan menu by name
  • Confirm restrictions with the server
  • Save the map pin, because the chain has several branches
  • Choose another kitchen if you need strictly vegetarian cooking
