How to reach Raigarh by air

The closest commercial airport is Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda (JRG) in Odisha, about 95 km away by road. Raipur (RPR) is the larger alternative, and the drive from there is considerably longer.

How to reach Raigarh by train

Raigarh station (RIG) is on the Tatanagar–Bilaspur section of the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line, and most express trains stop here. Bilaspur (BSP) is the larger junction for other connections.

How to reach Raigarh by road

Raigarh has bus links to Raipur, Bilaspur, Sarangarh and Jharsuguda from the Kevda Badi bus stand. A private car with driver is the easier way to reach Raigarh from Raipur or Jharsuguda.

Getting around Raigarh

Autos and e-rickshaws cover the city. For Chandrahasini temple, Kabra Pahar and Gomarda, hire a car with driver for the day and agree the route and hours beforehand.

Easy transfers to and in Raigarh

  • Travel between November and February. March to June is hot, and the monsoon makes forest roads and rock-shelter paths slippery.
  • Hire a car with driver for all day trips; public transport to Chandrahasini, Kabra Pahar and Gomarda is limited.
  • Chandrahasini temple stands on a hill, so check the steps at the site and go slowly; ask your driver to wait at the nearest approach.
  • Kabra Pahar has no made path. Wear shoes with grip, carry water, take a local guide and decline the walk if the ground is wet.
  • Carry any regular medicines and a basic first-aid kit; the forest roads towards Gomarda are far from hospitals.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
