Pacing

Pacing a Ramanathapuram trip for parents and children

  • Visit temples and the palace in the early morning; stone floors get very hot by midday.
  • Use a hired car and driver for the sanctuaries; roads are rural and signage is poor.
  • Carry water, a hat and a folding stool or cushion for the bird tanks, where seating is not published.
  • Check tide timing before Navapashanam; wet steps can be slippery.
  • Confirm sanctuary access and water levels before long drives.
  • Avoid festival days such as Aadi Amavasai and Tiruvathirai if you dislike crowds.
