Pacing
Pacing a Salasar Balaji trip for parents and children
- Go for darshan early on a weekday; Tuesdays, Saturdays and fair days can mean hours of queueing.
- Carry water and a hat, and use shaded corners of the queue; summers are severe.
- Ask volunteers or staff about arrangements for the elderly or wheelchair users; I could not verify a formal system.
- Choose a dharamshala or hotel within a short auto ride of the temple, preferably with a lift and attached bathroom.
- Keep bags minimal, hold glasses and food out of sight because of monkeys, and note your shoe stall number.
- Do not try to combine Salasar with a long day trip in the heat; keep Tal Chhapar for winter.
