For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Satara
- Drive up Ajinkyatara; the road reaches the summit and the walk to the gate is short.
- In the monsoon, take care on slippery steps and viewpoints at Kaas and Thoseghar.
- Carry water and snacks for every hill visit, and avoid the midday sun from March to May.
- Use a driver who knows the hill roads, especially in mist.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
