Pacing

Pacing a Satara trip for parents and children

  • Drive up Ajinkyatara; the road reaches the summit and the walk to the gate is short.
  • At Sajjangad, use the landings on the roughly 230-step staircase and go in the morning.
  • Skip Chandan, Vandan and the other trek forts if stamina or knees are a concern.
  • In the monsoon, take care on slippery steps and viewpoints at Kaas and Thoseghar.
  • Carry water and snacks for every hill visit, and avoid the midday sun from March to May.
  • Use a driver who knows the hill roads, especially in mist.
