The short answer
Parsapani Buffer Zone: what visitors should know first
Good as a second safari or if core permits sell out. Parsapani is close to Madhai, open when core zones shut for the monsoon, and has a reputation for wildlife sightings, including leopards. Night drives are reported here but rules vary, so confirm before you rely on one.

Why it matters
Why Parsapani Buffer Zone is worth your time
Parsapani helps spread the visitor load across the reserve. Core permits sell out, and the core closes for the monsoon, but a buffer zone gives you somewhere to go when the main routes are full or shut. That is useful for travel planning, and for the park, because tourism pressure is shared.
It also shows that wildlife does not stop at the core boundary. Leopards, deer and other animals use the buffer areas, and sightings here can be as rewarding as in the core. Visitors who spend two or three days at Madhai often find that mixing a core round with a buffer round gives a fuller picture.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Parsapani is best treated as an easy add-on to a Madhai stay. Your lodge can arrange a jeep, and the drive to the gate is short. Inside, the terrain is rolling, with streams, ponds, grasslands and patches of forest, and the Denwa backwaters appear at several points.
The zone has a reputation for leopard sightings. Outlook Traveller describes a night safari here where leopards and cubs had been seen, though the MP tourism guide says night safaris are not allowed in core or buffer zones, so confirm with the reserve what is currently permitted before you plan one.
Take a morning round if you want the best light, and bring water, a hat and a scarf for the dust. If you want a quieter drive than the core, this can be a good choice, as buffer zones generally have fewer vehicles on any given day.
Plan with confidence
Small decisions that make the visit easier.
- Ask your lodge to book a Parsapani round alongside a core safari
- Confirm whether night safaris are currently allowed
- Carry a scarf, hat and water for dust and heat
- Use a morning round for cooler air and better light
- Check vehicle limits and timings on the booking portal
