Plan 01

1 day in Seminyak

  1. 01

Day 1: Temple, shops and sunset

Start with a late breakfast, then visit Pura Petitenget in the morning while it is cooler, wearing a sarong. Spend the afternoon at Seminyak Square and Seminyak Village for shade and a short browse, with lunch nearby. Rest at the hotel, then go to the beach in the late afternoon and settle at a beach club for sunset. Have dinner on Jalan Kayu Aya or at an Indian vegetarian restaurant if you prefer familiar food.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Pura Petitenget30-45 minutesEasyMorning, or on a temple anniversary day if you want ceremony
Seminyak Square45-60 minutesEasyMorning or late afternoon
Seminyak Village45-60 minutesEasyMidday heat or rainy afternoons
Jalan Kayu Aya (Eat Street)1-2 hoursModerateEarly evening, before the crowds and scooters peak

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Jalan Kayu Aya (Eat Street): Pavements are narrow or interrupted, and traffic is steady. The street is flat but crowded in the evening, so older travellers should be dropped at a restaurant entrance rather than walk the full length.

Pacing

Pacing a Seminyak trip for parents and children

  • Choose a hotel with a lift or ground-floor rooms and a pool you can enter by steps.
  • Plan outdoor sights for the morning and rest in the afternoon heat.
  • Do not swim outside the flagged zones; the surf and rip currents are strong.
  • Use a private driver for temples and day trips rather than scooters or long walks.
  • Carry travel insurance papers and the number of a hospital such as BIMC Kuta.
  • Take a hat, sunscreen and water for beach and temple visits.
