Plan 01
1 day in Shani Shingnapur
- 01
Day 1: Darshan, meal hall and a village walk
Leave Shirdi or Ahilyanagar early so you reach the shrine before mid-morning. Buy offerings from a shop on the approach and leave shoes and bags there. Join the darshan queue, then visit the Navagraha mandapam. Eat at the devasthan meal hall if timings suit, then walk the lanes to see the doorless houses. Head back in the early afternoon to avoid heat and Saturday traffic.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Navagraha Mandapam 15–20 minutes Easy Weekday mornings, once the first darshan queue has cleared Devasthan meal hall (Prasadalaya) 30–45 minutes including queue Easy Lunch and early evening, outside the Saturday rush Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.

Day 1: Nevasa temples
Drive to Nevasa and visit the Mohiniraj temple and the Dnyaneshwar shrine at the pillar where the Dnyaneshwari is traditionally said to have been composed. Rest in the afternoon and, if you are staying near the shrine, take an evening walk through the village.
- 02
Day 2: Early darshan
Aim to reach the shrine early on a weekday. After darshan and a meal at the devasthan hall, head to Ahilyanagar for Ahmednagar Fort's exterior and, if time allows, Meherabad, or return to Shirdi.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Ahmednagar Fort Half a day including travel Moderate November to February Meherabad 2–3 hours Easy October to early March; the pilgrim centre closes in summer Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Ahmednagar Fort: Expect uneven ground and long distances if you do enter; the outer wall and moat can be seen from the road with less effort. Heat in April and May is hard on older travellers.

Pacing
Pacing a Shani Shingnapur trip for parents and children
- Go on a weekday morning. Saturdays and amavasya days bring very long, open-air queues.
- Ask a trust volunteer about assistance for seniors or wheelchair users before joining a long line.
- Carry water, a hat and an umbrella; the queue has limited shade in summer.
- Wear footwear that is easy to remove, and use the shop locker arrangement for shoes and bags.
- Break the Shirdi-Shingnapur drive with a rest stop, since road time is about two hours each way.
- Crowds: Attendance averages 30,000–45,000 a day and can reach about three lakh on Saturday amavasya. Choose a weekday if you can.
