Day 1: Fort and sanctuary
Leave Baran or Kota early with a driver and supplies. Stop briefly at the Gadgach temple in Atru if time allows, then reach Shergarh Fort in the morning and explore the lower areas, inscriptions and temple remains. Eat packed lunch, then drive the sanctuary track if the forest office permits and return before dusk.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Shergarh Fort (Kosithal) 2 to 3 hours at the fort; allow a full day with travel Moderate October to February, early morning or late afternoon Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Shergarh Fort (Kosithal): Expect uneven stone, ruined steps and exposed hill paths with no handrails, benches or shade, and few facilities nearby. Older travellers should stay near the lower gateways and viewpoints, wear sturdy shoes and carry plenty of water.
