How to reach Singapore by air

Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) is about 24 km east of the centre and is linked by the Changi Airport MRT station. Wikipedia lists direct services from several Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi and Ahmedabad; check airlines and schedules before booking.

How to reach Singapore by train

There is no railway line between India and Singapore, so most visitors arrive by air. Within the city, the MRT metro network serves almost every major sight and runs to the airport.

How to reach Singapore by road

Singapore is an island city connected to Malaysia by road, but visitors from India normally arrive by air and use the MRT, taxis or ride-hailing. A hired car is not necessary for most trips.

Getting around Singapore

The MRT is the fastest way to move around, with buses, taxis and ride-hailing apps filling the gaps. Most stations have lifts, and most sights are a short walk from one. Taxis are metered, and drivers are generally reliable.

Easy transfers to and in Singapore

  • Choose a hotel within a short walk of an MRT station with a lift; most stations have lifts, but check which exit has one before you go.
  • Carry a light rain jacket or umbrella, since showers can start suddenly at any time of year.
  • Use taxis or ride-hailing for short hops between sights if a long walk would tire you; fares are metered and drivers are generally reliable.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
