Sivasagar lies on the Assam Trunk Road (formerly NH37) between Jorhat and Dibrugarh. Buses and shared vehicles connect it to nearby towns; a private car with a driver is the easiest way to arrive from either airport.

Easy transfers to and in Sivasagar

  • Hire a car and driver for the district; sights are spread over 3 to 30 km and public transport is limited.
  • Carry water, a hat and a torch. Shade is limited, and interior corridors can be dim.
  • At working temples, expect shoes off and modest dress; carry socks for hot or cold floors.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
