The short answer
Dobanki Canopy Walk: what visitors should know first
Go if your itinerary includes a full day on the water. The elevated walk lets you look into the forest from a safe height and see how thick it is. It is not a place to expect a tiger, but it is a real change of vantage from the boat.

Why it matters
Why Dobanki Canopy Walk is worth your time
The canopy walk is one of the few ways a visitor can look into the forest on foot without stepping on the forest floor. The cage and raised walkway are there because tigers share this forest with local communities, and the risk is taken seriously. Dobanki is therefore a managed compromise: close contact with the habitat, none with the animals.
It also demonstrates how the mangrove works at eye level: layered roots, tidal mud, and dense canopy that blocks sightlines. Understanding that density explains why tiger sightings are so rare.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Dobanki is reached by boat, about two hours from Sajnekhali according to the reserve, so most visitors fold it into a full-day launch trip that also stops at Sudhanyakhali and other landings. The jetty leads to an entrance gate, and from there a caged, raised walkway of about 400 metres runs through the mangroves at canopy height.
Walk slowly. From above you can see the mud floor, the root systems and the small life that lives in them, including red crabs, while the cage keeps you safe. The path ends at a watchtower with a wide view over the forest and the channels. Bring binoculars: birds are easier to see here than from the boat.
A Bonbibi shrine stands near the tower. Boatmen and forest staff pay their respects, and it is a quiet reminder that this is a working forest where people have lived with danger for generations. Allow a rest on the return, since the journey back to Sajnekhali is long.
