Easy transfers to and in Tarkarli
- Take the earliest fort ferry; the boat transfer at the jetty involves a step and a swell, so ask the boatman to help older passengers board.
- Choose a stay with a ground-floor room and a short walk to the car; many homestays have stairs.
- Carry shoes with grip for the fort's worn stone and the wet jetty steps, and a hat and water bottle.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
