Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Thulusdhoo trip for parents and children

  • Plan outdoor activity for early morning and late afternoon; the midday sun is strong and shade is limited.
  • Ask your guesthouse for a room near the pier or beach, on a lower floor if stairs are difficult.
  • Check boarding steps on speedboats and jetties, which can be steep at low tide.
  • Carry medicines and a doctor's note; the island has limited medical facilities and the main hospitals are in Malé.
  • Choose snorkel or dolphin trips with life vests, shade and a guide, and skip open-water trips if you are not a confident swimmer.
  • Buy travel insurance that covers medical evacuation before you travel.
