Plan 01
1 day at Varca Beach
- 01
Day 1: Sand, church and a shack sunset
Walk the beach early while the sand is cool and the fishing boats are still pulled up. Have breakfast at your hotel or at Misha's Hut for a simple parantha-and-eggs start, then visit the Church of Our Lady of Glory in the village before midday, dressing modestly. Rest through the heat. In the late afternoon, walk the Fatrade stretch and settle at Sunset Paradise or another open shack for a seafood dinner as the sun goes down. Confirm the shack is open before you set out.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Misha's Hut 1 to 1.5 hours Easy Breakfast or lunch, year-round Sunset Paradise 1.5 to 2 hours Moderate Sunset, roughly October to May Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Sunset Paradise: Seating is on or near sand, with plastic or wooden chairs and few handrails, and the walk from the road may be soft underfoot. Ask for a table close to the entrance and take a torch for the return after dark.
Plan 02
2 days at Varca Beach
- 01
Day 1: Beach and village
Start with a morning on the sand, then lunch at Feed More on Fatrade Road. Rest, then visit Our Lady of Glory in the late afternoon. If it is a Saturday, look in on the village bazaar opposite the church (it began in 2021 and its schedule may have changed) before a sunset walk.
- 02
Day 2: A resort day and a neighbour
Spend the morning at your hotel pool or take a treatment at a resort spa. After lunch, take a taxi to Benaulim or Colva, each a short drive, and return for an early dinner. Keep the evening light and walk the shore once the day cools.
Plan 03
3 days at Varca Beach
- 01

- 02
Day 2: Village and food
Morning on the sand, lunch at Misha's Hut or Feed More, then rest. In the late afternoon visit the church of Our Lady of Glory and walk the village lanes before dinner.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Misha's Hut 1 to 1.5 hours Easy Breakfast or lunch, year-round Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.
- 03
Day 3: Margao or Cavelossim
Take a taxi to Margao for the covered municipal market and old Portuguese-era streets in the morning, or go south to Cavelossim for a different stretch of sand. Return for a final sunset on the beach.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Varca Beach trip for parents and children
- Walk on the firm wet sand near the waterline rather than the soft dry sand, and carry a folding stool or ask your hotel for loungers.
- Plan beach time before about 10 am and after about 4 pm; the middle of the day is hot and humid even in winter.
- Sea entry can shelve quickly and the surf pulls; swim only inside the lifeguard flags and keep a companion close.
- Beach shacks have sand floors and few handrails. Choose a restaurant or resort table if steps and sand are a problem.
- Distances between the beach, the village and restaurants are longer than they look, so keep a taxi number from your hotel.
- Swimming: Lifeguards patrol major South Goa beaches in season. Swim only in the marked area, obey red flags and keep children close. In the monsoon, sea swimming, coastal water sports and fishing are prohibited.
