Why it matters

Why Zayed National Museum is worth your time

The Zayed National Museum is the UAE's national museum, and it opened only in December 2025, so it is one of the newest major sights in the country. It memorialises Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president.

For visitors, it gives the local story, which the Louvre does not. Pairing the two is the best way to understand Saadiyat. The museum is also a good fit for a hot afternoon.

Highlights

What not to miss

    Falcon-wing towers

Five towers also work as solar chimneys.

  2. 02

    Magan boat replica

An 18-metre Bronze Age boat built with traditional methods.

  3. 03

    Al Masar Garden

    A 600-metre open-air gallery for cooler days.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

Look at the building from outside first. Five towers, between 83 and 123 metres high, resemble falcon wings and double as solar chimneys that draw cool air through the museum. Then enter and start in the first gallery, which covers Sheikh Zayed's life and the unification of the emirates.

Six permanent galleries follow, covering the country's environments, archaeology, early communities, maritime heritage and Emirati identity. The 18-metre replica of a Bronze Age Magan boat is the most striking object.

If the weather is cool, walk part of Al Masar Garden, the 600-metre outdoor gallery. In summer, stay inside, and plan to finish at a nearby cafe.

Plan with confidence

Small decisions that make the visit easier.
