The short answer
Qila Anandgarh Sahib: what visitors should know first
A good short stop if you are already at Kesgarh. Do not expect an old fort: the gurdwara is modern, but the hill, the view and the Baoli Sahib stepwell make it worthwhile. Allow 45 minutes.
History and context
The story behind Qila Anandgarh Sahib
Guru Gobind Singh built a set of forts around Anandpur Sahib; Anandgarh, the 'fort of bliss', was the strongest. Wikipedia describes it as the highest fort of Anandpur Sahib. Dvnetwork places it about 800 m southeast of Kesgarh.
The original structure was replaced by a modern gurdwara in the 1970s.

Why it matters
Why Qila Anandgarh Sahib is worth your time
Qila Anandgarh was the strongest of the five forts built by Guru Gobind Singh at Anandpur Sahib to defend the Sikh community against the hill rajas and the Mughals. The forts were joined by earthworks and tunnels, and construction began in 1689 and took over ten years.
The present building is not the original. It was raised in the 1970s under Baba Seva Singh, and his successors manage it. That makes this a place to understand the geography of the Guru's Anandpur rather than to see old stonework. It also helps to picture the whole defensive system of forts, earthworks and tunnels that once ringed the town.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Drive or walk from Kesgarh, which is about 800 m away, and leave your shoes at the entrance. Climb up to the main hall, where the Guru Granth Sahib is seated, and spend a few minutes there before you look around. The hillock gives wide views over the town and the foothills.
The Baoli Sahib, a sacred stepped well, lies beneath the gurdwara and is reached by a covered passage. If you can manage the steps, it is a quiet and cool place to visit.
The fort has an association with Hola Mohalla and the history of the siege, so it works well after a visit to Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. Combine it with an evening sit at Kesgarh and keep the rest of the day light.
