Pacing
Pacing a Beed trip for parents and children
- Hire a car and driver for the whole trip; buses to the fort and sanctuary are infrequent and the sights are spread out.
- Do outdoor sights in the first part of the day. The plateau reaches about 40 degrees in April and May and shade is thin.
- Kankaleshwar Temple and the Jama Masjid are the easiest sights. Dharur Fort and the sanctuary involve uneven ground and little seating.
- Carry water, a hat, medicines and snacks; toilets and shops are sparse outside Beed town.
- Mahashivratri brings heavy crowds at Parli Vaijnath; choose a weekday outside festivals for a calmer visit.
- Heat: April and May highs reach about 39 to 41 degrees. Do outdoor sights before 10 am and rest through the afternoon.
