Pacing

Pacing a Betla trip for parents and children

  • Book a lodge in Betla ahead; winter weekends fill.
  • Carry a warm layer, scarf and cushion for cold, bumpy jeep rides.
  • Choose morning safaris and rest in the afternoon.
  • Ask the reserve office about the easiest vehicle and seating.
  • Carry medicines, water and snacks; the nearest hospital is in Daltonganj.
  • Avoid April to September: heat, then monsoon and the park closure.
