Easy transfers to and in Chail
- Plan one main outing a day; Chail is small but the roads are steep and the altitude is about 2,250 m.
- Drive to Kali ka Tibba instead of walking the full 6 km, and walk only the last stretch if comfortable.
- Do the winding drive from Kandaghat or Shimla in daylight, and carry travel sickness tablets if you are prone.
- Carry regular medicines, a warm jacket and cash, since the nearest hospitals are in Solan and Shimla.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
