How to reach Fujairah by road

The main roads run from Dubai and Sharjah via Dhaid and Masafi, and along the coast from Khor Fakkan and Dibba. Roads are good, but allow extra time for mountain sections and weekend traffic.

Getting around Fujairah

Taxis and hired cars with drivers are the most practical way to see sights. Local buses exist, but are not convenient for forts, wadis or the north coast. Self-driving suits confident drivers with a valid international licence.

Easy transfers to and in Fujairah

  • Hire a car with a driver for the inland forts and Masafi; roads are good but distances are long and shade is limited.
  • Carry travel insurance papers and regular medicines. Al Sharq Hospital is in the Al Faseel area; confirm your policy covers care in the UAE and ask your hotel about the nearest clinic.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
