Fujairah neighbourhoods compared
- 01
Fujairah City
Best for: Travellers who want to be near the fort, museum and restaurants
Good to know: The most practical base for the heritage sights and for hospitals and shops. The beach here is less polished than the resort coast, so it suits sightseeing more than a beach holiday.
Sights in this area: Al Bidyah Mosque, Al Hayl Fort, Fujairah Heritage Village, Madhab Spring Park, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Fujairah, Snoopy Island and Al Aqah Beach
- 02
Al Aqah and the north coast
Best for: Beach days, snorkelling and resort stays
Good to know: Resort hotels face Snoopy Island and the reef. The trade-off is distance: Fujairah City is about 50 km away, so you will need a car for sights.
- 03
Dibba and the northern coast
Best for: Quiet coastal stays and divers
Good to know: The second-largest town in the emirate, with coast and mountain access. Choose it if you want a calmer base, but facilities for tourists are thinner.

Before you book
What to check when booking for older travellers
- Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
- Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
- Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
- Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
- Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
