Plan 01

1 day in Fujairah

  1. 01

Day 1: Fort, museum and the coast

Start at Fujairah Fort in the morning while the air is cool, then walk to the Fujairah Museum next door and finish its air-conditioned galleries before lunch. After a break in the city, drive to Madhab Spring Park and the Fujairah Heritage Village for a gentle afternoon, and end with a short look at Sheikh Zayed Mosque from the outside at sunset, respecting prayer times and dress rules.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Fujairah Fort30 to 60 minutesModerateEarly morning or late afternoon in the cooler months, November to March
Fujairah Museum45 to 90 minutesEasyAny time of day; a good midday refuge in the hot months
Madhab Spring Park1 to 2 hoursEasyLate afternoon in the cooler months
Fujairah Heritage Village45 to 90 minutesEasyLate afternoon in the cooler months

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Fujairah Fort: The fort stands on a rocky hill about 20 metres high, so the approach involves a climb and uneven ground, and shade is limited. Older travellers may prefer to look from the base and spend their energy on the air-conditioned museum next door.

Plan 02

2 days in Fujairah

  1. 01

Day 1: Old Fujairah and the city

Follow the one-day plan: fort, museum, lunch in the city, then Madhab Spring Park and the Heritage Village. Keep the evening free.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Madhab Spring Park1 to 2 hoursEasyLate afternoon in the cooler months

Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.

  2. 02

Day 2: Wadis and the north coast

Drive inland to Al Bithnah Fort and the Masafi Friday Market in the morning, then north to Al Bidyah Mosque. Finish at Al Aqah beach for a late afternoon by the water, with Snoopy Island in view. Hire a driver if you do not want to navigate the mountain roads.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Al Bithnah Fort45 to 60 minutesModerateMorning in the cooler months, November to March
Masafi Friday Market45 to 90 minutesEasyMorning in the cooler months
Al Bidyah Mosque20 to 45 minutesEasyMorning, outside prayer times

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Al Bithnah Fort: The entrance passes through a low corridor to a date-storage room and then up a ladder to the courtyard, which many older visitors will find awkward. If steps and ladders are a problem, the exterior and the setting are still worth the stop.

Plan 03

3 days in Fujairah

  1. 01

    Day 1: Old Fujairah

Fujairah Fort and the museum in the morning, then Madhab Spring Park and the Heritage Village after a rest.

    Day 2: Inland forts

Al Bithnah Fort, Masafi Friday Market and Al Hayl Fort, starting early and with a driver. Add Wadi Wurayah only if you have checked access and the group is fit.

With parents at Al Hayl Fort: The site sits on higher ground in a wadi, with uneven stone, slopes and little shade. Older travellers may prefer to enjoy the view from the lower area and avoid the climb to the tower.

  3. 03

    Day 3: Coast and reef

Al Bidyah Mosque in the morning, then a slow day at Al Aqah, with snorkelling at Snoopy Island for confident swimmers on calm days and a beach or pool day for everyone else.

Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Fujairah trip for parents and children

  • Plan outdoor sights for the first hours after sunrise from April to October; use the afternoons for rest and indoor stops.
  • Fujairah Fort has a climb, Bithnah Fort has a ladder and Al Hayl has uneven ground. The museum, Madhab Spring Park and Sheikh Zayed Mosque are far easier.
  • Hire a car with a driver for the inland forts and Masafi; roads are good but distances are long and shade is limited.
  • Carry travel insurance papers and regular medicines. Al Sharq Hospital is in the Al Faseel area; confirm your policy covers care in the UAE and ask your hotel about the nearest clinic.
  • Drink water often, even in winter. Dehydration comes on quickly in dry heat and sea wind.
  • Dress modestly away from beach resorts, and check prayer times and entry rules before visiting a mosque.
