Why it matters
Why Adalaj Trimandir is worth your time
The Trimandir opened on 29 December 2002 and is inspired by Dada Bhagwan, born Ambalal Muljibhai Patel (1908 to 1988), also known as Dadashri. Its central idea is non-sectarian: one complex where devotees of different traditions share a single space.
For visitors, that gives it a different feel from the larger, more structured Akshardham. It is calmer, with gardens and a lighter schedule, and it adds a more varied view of Gujarat's religious life to a trip that might otherwise be dominated by one denomination.

Visit in the morning or evening, when the temple is quieter and cooler. The complex is set in manicured gardens, and the main structure is built of pink and white stone with a central shikhar rising about 33 metres. Take off your shoes at the entrance and carry socks for warm paving.
Inside, two staircases on either side of the building lead to a first-floor hall with Jain, Shaivite and Vaishnavite idols. The main sanctum holds an idol of Simandhar Swami. Gujarat Tourism describes the complex as promoting a multi-faith idea, with shrines to Krishna, Shiva and Mahavir.
Allow about an hour. If you have more time, the Adalaj Stepwell is a short drive away. For older visitors, stay in the gardens and ground floor if the stairs are difficult.
